When I was in high school, I was disillusioning myself with my own self-image. I had the idea that I was a dark, mysterious man who had bypassed childhood, too good for any other "child." | Comments: | I really like your site and how you don't promote a hate, but rather an educated stance on why you dislike her. There should be more sites like this out there. No, I don't like Avril, but that doesn't mean that I dislike all the corporate-sponsored music out there. Not many people know that the Sex Pistols were brought together by a record company. Now, wether or not that should affect your liking of them is up to you, but I have always listened to music I like. Whether it be punk, metal, ska, emo, classic rock..whatever. But sometimes, I just can't overlook what a certain musician stands for and says, no matter how good or bad their music is. I think Avril is one of those cases where what she says can easily be targeted back at her. |

Sure, 90% of pop stars (which she is one) have a fake image, or a slightly altered one at least, but those with fake images don't insist that their image is real. All she is is a wannabe. If I ever meet this lost little girl I'm going to ask her how she felt about the Nancy Spungen/Sid Vicious deaths and how the work of the Sex Pistols, the Ramones, and the Pixies have affected her musically. I'm also going to ask her to sing a few lines from "Blitzkrieg Bop" or "Hey You, Let's Sniff Some Glue". But if I asked her anything remotely intelligent or relevant to her image. She'd probably be like "Who are the Ramones? Are they a new band?" Heh. Anyways, I'm rambling. But on your site I think you should add a page about the real history of punk: from seventies England to early nineties Seattle heroin addicts and grunge. It would be cool and informative. And maybe Avril could magically find your site and actually learn how to pose more effectively. But if she EVER covers a good punk song - whether it's "Ruby Soho" by Rancid or anything by Millencolin - I will shoot her, and then myself. I have to draw the line somewhere, you know. |
